Our policies and reports
Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year. Our policies address attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform and how we respond to your concerns.
Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
School behaviour support and management plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.

Bush fire emergency procedure
As part of Jilliby Public School's Work health and safety regulations the school has now put into place emergency procedures in case of a bushfire.
Any decision to evacuate should be based on the assessment of actual or potential danger, if possible on the advice of emergency services. Decisions concerning evacuation and the selection of designated safe assembly areas and access routes should be made according to the circumstances and the time of the emergency.
The school population may be evacuated when directed by Emergency Services personnel, Department of Education Director of Education or when the school principal judges an evacuation is necessary. The principal will decide if the school voluntarily to Wyong Public School School as a safter alternative to waiting for evacuation. Wyong Public School is located in Cutler Drive, 02 4352 1301. The students will be evacuated by Coastal Liner Bus and Coaches.
Jilliby Public School (JPS) is committed to explicitly teaching and modelling positive behaviour and to supporting all students to be engaged with their learning.

Principles of positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice, inclusive practice and social emotional learning underpin our daily practice. High expectations for student behaviour are established and maintained through effective role modelling, explicit teaching, and planned processes.
To achieve our vision, key programs prioritised and valued by the school community are:
• School Values - Safe, Engaged & Respectful
• Second Steps Social and Emotional Learning
• Breakfast Program
• PBL – Jilliby Jewels Reward system
Jilliby Public School rejects all forms of bullying behaviours, including cyberbullying by maintaining a commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning community that promotes student wellbeing. Staff are committed to establishing evidence-based approaches and strategies that promote a positive climate where bullying is less likely to occur.
All members of the school community are active participants in building a welcoming school culture that values diversity and fosters positive relationships. A key component of a supportive school culture is building respectful relationships and an ethos that bullying is not accepted, in both online and offline environments. School staff actively respond to student bullying behaviour.
Jilliby Public School discourages students from bringing mobile phones/ smart phones to school. However, where parents feel it is necessary for their child to have a phone/watch in their possession at school, it is the responsibility of the student to abide by the appropriate use guidelines as outlined in this document.
● The decision to provide a mobile phone/ smart watch for their child should be made by parents or carers who should be aware that their child is bringing a mobile phone to school.
● Permission for students to have a mobile phone/smart watch at school is contingent on parents and students signing the mandatory “Appropriate Use of Mobile Phones/ Smart Watches at School” agreement which is attached as an appendix to this document.
● It is the responsibility of students and parents to comply with the guidelines outlined in this document and Department of Education (DoE) policy.
● The school accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged mobile phones/smart watches. This relates to phones at school or whilst travelling to or from school.
