A year at our school

JUMP IN AT JILLIBY

Jilliby Public School offers opportunities for pre-Kindergarten enrolment orientation. Jump In @ Jilliby is a program offered to any 3 - 5 year olds who would like to attend. Parents stay for the sessions and children are offered a variety of engaging and hands-on activities allowing for social interactions and fun.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION

Kindergarten Orientation Sessions are run over several weeks in Term 4. You will receive an invitation with the dates and times once your child has enrolled.

During these sessions children are dropped at the classroom and the parents assemble in the staffroom with Mrs Docherty for 4 information sessions.

K-2 - LEARNING IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Students in K-2 are given many opportunities to experience learning beyond the classroom at Jilliby Public School. From within the school grounds to adventures far beyond our students immerse themselves in hands-on learning and first-hand experiences.

3-6 - LEARNING IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Students in 3-6 build on their prior learning and take the opportunity to attend camps and overnight excursions in order to better understand Australia and the world we live in. From Canberra and Hill End to the Wyong Art House our students thrive in the enriched opportunities provided.

FIRST LEGO League Robotics Australia Competition

Each year our students participate in First Lego League Robotics Australia Competition. Teacher facilitated sessions are run in Term 3 & Term 4 both during school time and after school in the lead up to the competitions. The students from K-3 participate in FLL Explore, while the students in 4-6 participate in FLL Challenge.

FIRST LEGO League Explore releases a new challenge for teams that focuses on a particular STEM topic. Teams are sent on a journey of discovery to learn all they can about their topic, then present their findings in the form of a team poster and moving LEGO model. These projects are then celebrated at Explore Festivals.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge engages students in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering as they build and program a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. As part of the challenge, teams participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem.
